WEST ST. PAUL, Minnesota — Police in West St. Paul are investigating after a domestic violence suspect crashed her car early Sunday morning and was killed during a chase.

West St. Paul police said they received a report of a domestic dispute around 1:43 a.m. The woman said a 35-year-old man was in her home threatening the residents and damaging property. They also said he had “consumed a large amount of alcohol and was using drugs,” police said.

A short time later, officers observed the suspect driving his vehicle eastbound on Moreland Avenue. Police attempted to stop the car and arrest the driver, but he fled.

A few blocks later, after crossing Robert Street, the driver lost control and crashed into a utility pole and two unoccupied vehicles.

The driver was thrown from the vehicle. Despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The accident is being investigated by the Mendota Heights Police Department.
