The Carolina Panthers' first drive of the 2024 season was very similar to their drive of the 2023 season. On the first pass attempt of his sophomore season, former No. 1 first-round pick Bryce Young threw an interception.

Young's pass intended for wide receiver Diontae Johnson was intercepted by Saints safety Will Harris, who took the ball seven yards to the Carolina 40-yard line.

Here's a look at the piece:

The Panthers, looking to turn around a disappointing season last season, saw more of the same on their first play. Young has completed 2 of 5 passes for 18 yards, an interception and a sack.

At the end of the first quarter, the Panthers trailed the home team 17-0. Carolina's offenses so far have ended with one interception and two punts. The Saints' offenses have ended with one touchdown, one field goal and one touchdown.

Last season, Young had a record of 2-14 with 2,877 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Expectations were high for the first-round pick, but he failed to live up to them in his transition from college to the NFL.

The team still has confidence in Young, and young quarterbacks often need time to develop before they can take off. This is a big year for Young, and it didn't start with the confidence-building the team had hoped for.

In 2023, the Panthers finished the season with the worst record in the NFL.
