Nearly a year after a man was shot at a traffic light in northwest Dallas, two suspects have been arrested

Two men were recently arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 30-year-old man in northwest Dallas nearly a year ago.

Sean Alford, 25, and Cortez Moy, 31, are both charged with the murder of Nycholas Edward Shields, according to police. Alfred was arrested in Sweetwater on Aug. 20 and Moy on Saturday.

Alford, identified in a jail roster as Sean Alfred Williams, was booked into the Dallas County Jail a week after his arrest and is being held without bail, records show. Moy did not appear in jail records as of early Sunday afternoon.

According to police, officers responded to the 10900 block of Composite Drive, near the intersection with Walnut Hill Lane, late on September 9, 2023, and found Shields, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said at the time that Shields was shot in his car at a traffic light.

In December, police released surveillance footage showing Shields' car stopped at a light in traffic near a Valero gas station and a black sedan stopped behind several vehicles.

A person appears to exit the passenger door of the sedan and run toward Shields' car. Moments later, people nearby run in the opposite direction as the person sprints back toward the sedan and it drives away.
