Carrie Underwood “wasn’t interested in the subject of Sunday Night Football”

Carrie Underwood wasn't “really interested” in singing the theme song to “Sunday Night Football” when she was first offered the job.
The 41-year-old singer has been singing NBC's theme song for over a decade now – but Carrie turned down the opportunity when the idea was first presented to her.
Fred Gaudelli, executive producer of NBC's NFL coverage, told Yahoo: “We contacted Carrie, she wasn't really interested.”
Carrie admitted that it was simply “not the right time” for her.
However, in 2013, the blonde beauty finally accepted the offer and has been enjoying the experience ever since.
She said: “I feel like [NBC] do a great job year after year of reinventing and revitalizing the Open.
“People know it's very reassuring to watch the Open and have a rough idea of what it's going to feel like. But the way they approach it every year and do everything they can to keep it fresh is really cool.”
Fred also revealed that he asked Carrie to convince her to accept the offer.
He recalled: “I said, 'Look, we're the No. 1 show on primetime television. It airs to over 20 million people every week.' [Carrie’s] a football fan, I think it's a kind of natural [choice].
“I showed her the demographic breakdown and when it was done, she said, 'You know what? You're right. We should do this.' And that started a 12-year streak of success.”
Furthermore, Fred insisted that there were no “creative differences” between him and Carrie.
He revealed: “Carrie and her stylist play a big role in this because she wants to change things up every year and look a little different. We've never really had any creative differences.”
