OL Rob Havenstein among the inactive Rams in the season opener against the Lions

The Los Angeles Rams are ready to face the Detroit Lions at Ford Field, but unfortunately they will be missing some players going forward.

The Rams have officially announced inactive players before their opening game against the Detroit Lions.

Five Rams players will not play in tonight's game against Detroit: running back Cody Schrader, outside linebacker Brennan Jackson, inside linebacker Elias Neal, offensive lineman Rob Havenstein and defensive end Desjuan Johnson.

While a majority of the Rams' inactive players are not in the starting lineup, one particular player will be missing.

Of all the inactive players, the one that hurts the most is Havenstein, who played for the Rams since 2015 and started 130 games. He was a constant presence for Los Angeles and we will miss him.

Fortunately, another Rams star, Joseph Noteboom, will fill that void. He has been with Los Angeles since 2018, has played 67 games and started 31 times.

Defensive end Desjuan Johnson joined the Rams last season after being selected 259th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. He recorded nine tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in 11 games last season.

Rookie linebacker Brennan Jackson was selected 154th in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. In his final year at Washington State, Jackson recorded 57 total tackles, 8.5 sacks and three pass deflections.

Rookie linebacker Elias Neal was signed by the Rams as an undrafted free agent. In his final year at Marshall, Neal recorded 93 total tackles, 10.5 sacks and two interceptions.

Rookie running back Schrader was originally signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent but was released on August 27. The Rams claimed him off waivers on August 28.

Meanwhile, the Lions will have seven players inactive: defensive tackle DJ Reader, safety Ifeatu Melifonwu, defensive end James Houston, safety Loren Strickland, linebacker Trevor Nowaske, offensive lineman Colby Sorsdal and tackle Giovani Manu.

Additional linebacker Ernest Jones IV and defensive player Aaron Donald are no longer on the team because they were traded to the Tennessee Titans or retired.

Time will tell how these changes will affect the Rams. Hopefully they can beat Detroit.
