Indiana man convicted of hundreds of images and videos of child sexual abuse

A 36-year-old man who filmed a child in the shower and had videos showing child sexual abuse has been convicted.

Timothy J. Carpenter of Indiana possessed hundreds of images and dozens of videos of child exploitation, including some taken in the shower.

The ruling came after Indiana State Police were alerted to Carpenter in 2022. Police learned that Carpenter was using software to receive and distribute child sexual abuse material online through his cellphone.

Carpenter admitted to investigators that he used his phone to access the material. When investigators examined his phone, they found several videos that showed a prepubescent child completely naked in a shower.

Videos show Carpenter hiding a camera in several places near the shower to film the child's genitals.

The child molester was sentenced to over 17 years in prison for possessing and producing images of child sexual abuse.

A judge also ordered Carpenter to register as a sex offender in his place of residence, as well as in his place of work and where he studied.
