Are tourists still interested in Hong Kong's exclusive shopping malls? The music videos of a Korean singer may point to another attraction – Hong Kong's unique cityscape with its mix of old and modern.

While Hong Kong people have long complained about cramped housing and crowded streets, many foreigners see these as interesting places. Scenes from Hong Kong films of the 1980s and 1990s showed our city's busy streets with their iconic neon signs. More recent Hollywood films such as Godzilla vs. Kong And skyscraper offered a different view of the city – its magnificent skyline and modern skyscrapers.

Now there are signs that the music industry is also showing interest. Two recently released videos by Chanyeol, a member of the K-pop band EXO, were filmed in Hong Kong. Alongside images of the city's neon-drenched streets, one of the videos shows a council estate and a small apartment.

The images of Hong Kong in these videos are reminiscent of Western films such as Transformers: Age of Extinction, which is known Yick Cheong Buildingsometimes called Monster Building, in Quarry Bay and infectionwhich showed footage of an old bus station in Shek O.

The music videos and promotional materials also feature typical Hong Kong features, such as red taxis and small alleys.
