According to the sheriff's office, pilot “fearlessly” lands plane in a field in rural Nebraska

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KLKN) – No one was injured in a plane crash in a field in rural Merrick County on Saturday, according to the sheriff’s office.

The accident occurred around 4 p.m. near Third Road, north of Chapman.

A plane en route to Grand Island was low on fuel, so the pilot “fearlessly” landed the plane in a field, the sheriff's office said.

The pilot avoided power lines and was able to land the plane safely. The pilot and two passengers were uninjured and the plane suffered only minor damage.

Volunteer fire departments from Chapman and St. Libory arrived at the scene.
