Police investigate fatal shooting in Beatrice's home

BEATRICE, Nebraska (KOLN) – A woman is dead and a man is behind bars accused of killing her in Beatrice.

According to Beatrice police, Christopher Milke was arrested on suspicion of premeditated murder, use of a weapon to commit a serious crime and two counts of kidnapping.

On Sunday morning, officers responded to a home in the area of ​​South 22nd Street and Hillcrest Avenue. They discovered 42-year-old Tammy Leslie inside the home after she had been shot.

According to police, Milke then held a 19-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy captive in Leslie's home before being arrested at the scene.

The department is still searching for a motive in the murder. The Nebraska State Patrol is assisting officers in Beatrice with the investigation, which is ongoing.

“The Beatrice Police Department and the City of Beatrice send their thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Tammy Leslie,” police wrote in a press release.
