Accident and power outage paralyze parts of Keaaumoku Street

KEAAUMOKU (HawaiiNewsNow) – An accident and power outage closed portions of Keaaumoku Street Monday morning, Honolulu police said.

At 7 a.m., HPD reported that all southbound lanes on Keaaumoku Street in front of McDonalds were closed due to an accident.

Southbound traffic will be diverted in the opposite direction via the northbound lane.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.

Shortly thereafter, officials said a power outage in the area around South Beretania and Keaaumoku Street was affecting traffic control systems.

Keaamoku Street southbound also remains closed at Beretania Street and King Street.

The road is only open to emergency services.

Authorities are asking the public to consider all intersections as intersections with four stop signs and to avoid this area if possible.

Details are currently limited.
