What they say: Ohio media highlights Brown's successful fight to bring jobs back to the Ohio Valley

WASHINGTON, DC – In August, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) met with Ohio steelworkers and manufacturers in Warren, Ohio And Weirton, West Virginia to crack down on unfair trade practices and bring 600 jobs back to the Weirton-Steubenville region.

In Weirton, Brown visited the site of a new transformer factory, the Cleveland-Cliffs announced last month, what WTRF 7 called “A step to which Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown also contributed.“Brown successfully pushed the Biden administration to correct bad energy regulations that would have hurt domestic transformer production. WTRF7 wrote that “Brown took on the Biden administration and pushed the Department of Energy (DOE) to change regulations that would prevent investment in American-made transformers like this one.”

WTOV9 highlighted Brown’s efforts “Getting people back to work”, after the former tin mill in Cleveland-Cliffs was shut down earlier this year, and wrote that “Brown was able to negotiate a deal with representatives of the United Steelworkers and Cleveland-Cliffs to Bring transformer manufacturing to the Ohio Valley.”

In Warren, WKBN27 reported that Brown “calls on the Biden administration to end unfair trade practices in the aluminum extrusion industry,” and the Tribune Chronicle noted that Brown “told over 100 union members that he had stood up to presidents of both parties to change bad trade policies.”

Brown joined forces with aluminum producers and extruders to demand tougher action against unfair trade practices in the industry that harm Ohio workers, including Leetonia, Ohio-based Pennex Aluminum.
