The iPhone 16 camera can create spatial 3D photos and videos for Vision Pro

Apple has not talked about Apple Vision Pro much (or at all) during its September iPhone event, but the company's latest iPhones are more Vision Pro compatible cameras. The iPhone16 can take both spatial 3D photos and videos with its differently aligned dual rear cameras.

The iPhone 15 Pro supports spatial video recording but not photos. The iPhone 16 can do both. The camera alignment now places both cameras on the same plane, meaning they are evenly spaced for landscape shots. (Similar to the iPhone 15 Pro, spatial photos and videos cannot be shot vertically.)

After all, more iPhones will be capable of recording 3D content, but there are so few people who own a Vision Pro device that it's still unclear how anyone without a $3,500 room computer will be able to enjoy the immersive 3D photos and videos. Metas Quest headsets can also display Apple's spatial videos and will hopefully work with spatial photos as well.
