Donald Glover postpones Childish Gambino shows for health reasons

Donald Glover postponed the remainder of his North American Childish Gambino tour on Monday, citing health concerns, but promised that all tickets will ultimately remain valid.

Glover, who performs under the pseudonym Childish Gambino, wrote on social media that he had to cancel all remaining dates of his New World tour “to focus on my physical health for a few weeks.” The North American leg lasts about a month, with the next scheduled date being Tuesday in Austin, Texas, and shows running through October 3.

Glover wrote in his announcement that “all tickets will remain valid” once the dates are rescheduled. He concluded his message by thanking fans for their privacy, support and love.

On Sunday, Glover canceled his show in Houston “due to illness” and said that tickets remained valid for a new date to be announced.

It is unclear whether the overseas leg of Glover's tour, which is scheduled to begin in November, will also be affected.

The New World tour is Glover's last project for Childish Gambino, he said earlier this year. It includes his latest album, Bando Stone and the New World.

“It really was as if it was over,” he told the New York Times“It's not fulfilling. And I just felt like I didn't need to build that way anymore.”

He wrote the record in conjunction with an upcoming new film about a musician who begins work on a remote island.

“I thought it was a really great journey for someone who makes music and doesn't know what the purpose of it is,” he said. “I feel like everyone goes through that, not just artists. That feeling of 'What is all this for?'”
