Apple fans cry because the highly praised iPhone model is missing from the event launch despite leaks

APPLE has finally concluded its highly anticipated launch event for the iPhone 16 with four new models – but one was noticeably missing.

There was a lot of excitement among fans as reports ahead of the event suggested that there might be a revival of the forgotten iPhone SE.

The iPhone SE 4, which Apple is rumored to be working on, will now likely launch next year alongside the iPhone 17.

Since it is usually the cheapest device in the respective series, Apple fans are disappointed that they are missing out on a cheaper model.

In February last year, Ming-Chi, an analyst at TF International Securities, claimed that Apple had restarted the iPhone SE 4 project because the economic downturn was dampening consumers' appetite for buying new electronics.

Bloomberg's Mark Kleinman, an avid Apple source, also noted last week that Apple's supplies of the iPhone SE model were running low.

The low inventory suggested that the tech giant may be clearing its shelves to make room for a new product.

“No announcement on #iPhone SE updates. The phone is affordable for farmers,” wrote an observer on the social media platform X.

Another added: “RIP iPhone SE #AppleEvent.”

And a third noted: “Unfortunately, Apple doesn't plan to release one in 2024. We'll have to wait until 2025!”

Apple has introduced an iPhone SE 3 to its iPhone 14 lineup in 2022.

The iPhone SE 3 was priced between $429/£449 and $579/£609. The iPhone SE 2 was priced between $399/£419 and $549/£569.

This is significantly cheaper than the iPhone 14 Pro, which retailed for $999/£1,099.

iPhone 16 prices and release date

Apple says the new iPhone 16 will start at $799/£799, while the iPhone 16 Plus will cost $899/£899.

And both start with 128GB of storage.

This corresponds to both the prices and storage capacities of last year.

The iPhone 16 Pro costs $999/£1,099 and the Pro Max costs $1,199/£1,199.

They can be pre-ordered starting Friday 13th and will be available in stores on Friday 20th September.
