Kate Middleton gives rare insights into life with Prince William and his children in new video

Kate Middleton speaks openly about her health – and does so in the circle of her family.

On Monday, September 9, the 42-year-old Princess of Wales confirmed via video message that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment after announcing in March that she was undergoing cancer treatment. Princess Kate appeared in the clip with her husband Prince William and their children Prince George (11), Princess Charlotte (9) and Prince Louis (6).

The footage was shot last month by Will Warr in Norfolk, where the family's country home, Anmer Hall, is located. The montage, overlaid with a message from Princess Kate, began with the Welsh family taking a walk outdoors, followed by footage of Princess Kate driving in a car and solo shots of her.

“As the summer draws to a close, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally finished my chemotherapy,” began the Princess of Wales. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and the unknown path.”

“The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for anyone, especially those closest to you. Humility also allows you to confront your own vulnerabilities in ways you've never considered before and gain a new perspective on everything,” she continued.

“Above all, this time has reminded William and me to reflect on and be grateful for the simple but important things in life that so many of us often take for granted. To simply love and be loved.”

The three-minute clip also features footage of Prince William and Princess Kate sitting and posing close together, the royal mother pushing her youngest son Prince Louis on a swing, and George, Charlotte and Louis getting up close to the camera. The Wales family are then seen playing cards with Princess Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton, and the Prince and Princess of Wales play another round with their children on a picnic blanket.

It also shows William and Kate lying together on a blanket on the beach and laughing; the Welsh family's dog Orla makes a cameo appearance; Prince William, 42, gives his wife a kiss on the cheek; Princess Kate and Princess Charlotte run to jump on a bale of hay; and Prince George and Prince Louis splash in the sea.

“My focus now is to do everything I can to remain cancer free. Although I have completed chemotherapy, my road to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” Princess Kate said in the message. “However, I am looking forward to returning to work and taking on a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.”

“Despite everything that has happened before, I begin this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation for life,” she continued. “William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn much strength from all those helping us during this time. The kindness, compassion and empathy of everyone has truly impressed us.”

“To all those who continue their own journey through cancer: I will stay with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of the darkness can come light, so let that light shine brightly,” she concluded.

The update comes nearly six months after the Princess of Wales announced in March that she was receiving cancer treatment. In January, Princess Kate underwent elective abdominal surgery and two months later shared the news that she had been diagnosed with cancer in a recorded video released on March 22. In June, the Princess of Wales said she was making “good progress” in a statement released the next day ahead of her first official public appearance in 2024.

She has made two official appearances so far this year, both in the summer – at Trooping the Colour on June 15 and at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships on July 14.
