911 emergency call released regarding death of Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – Atlanta police released the incident report and 911 call into the death of rapper Rich Homie Quan on Monday.

Police said they responded to a 911 call to a residence on Hampton Forest Drive at around 11:22 a.m. on September 5, 2024, where they found Quan – real name Dequantes Devontay Lamar – unconscious. He was taken by ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A cause of death at the office has not yet been determined as the Fulton County Coroner's Office is leading the investigation. The incident report states the responding officer found no signs of foul play.

Rich Homie Quan was born on October 4, 1989 in Atlanta. His performance at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta was scheduled for September 19, 2024.

Lamar began his career in 2011 and first achieved mainstream success with his 2013 single “Type of Way,” which peaked at number 50 on the Billboard Hot 100. He again achieved success with his 2015 single “Flex,” which peaked at number 26 on the charts.

In September 2014, Quan's father, Corey Lamar, was injured when his barbershop was the target of a shooting. Fulton County prosecutors are trying to link the incident to an alleged criminal gang led by Young Thug, who is currently on trial in Atlanta on multiple criminal and gang-related charges.

A few weeks ago, Kenneth Copeland (aka Lil' Woody) admitted that he and a friend opened fire in the hair salon.

When asked about his motive by Fulton County Assistant District Attorney Symone Hilton, Copeland said he wanted to send a message with the shooting that “we are not being played with.”

Copeland was a cornerstone in the prosecution's case against Jeffery Williams, Young Thug's real name. However, Copeland has repeatedly testified that he lied to police in 2015 as they built their case around the alleged Young Slime Life or Young Stoner Life gang.
