You will always be close behind my absolute favorite Bill Goldberg

Gunther interrupted Bret Hart's return to WWE RAW and attempted to get inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

WWE RAW took place on September 9th in Calgary and “The Hitman” made his much-hyped return to the show. However, World Heavyweight Champion Gunther burst out of the celebratory moment and told Hart that he may be the best there is, but he personally is the best there is and the best there ever will be.

Gunther then told Hart that he would always stay close behind his actual favorite, who was none other than Bill Goldberg.

Sami Zayn came out and confronted the champion, and “The Ring General” again refused his challenge. Hart called Gunther a coward and Zayn brawled with the champion.

Goldberg ended Bret Hart's in-ring career prematurely with a misstep in their match at WCW Starrcade 1999, as Hart suffered a severe concussion. Over the years, Hart has made it clear that he remains frustrated with Goldberg over the incident.
