Three men – two of whom still have outstanding arrest warrants from Texas and Louisiana – have been arrested on murder charges in connection with a shooting at a Mississippi apartment complex.

The three suspects are accused of murdering Vandarren McCray, a 38-year-old Clarksdale man who was shot and killed at the Kirby Estates Apartments in Robinsonville, Mississippi on Monday, September 2, 2024.

Jarvis Grant, 32, of Robinsonville, was arrested on September 6 and charged with murder and conspiracy. Two others were arrested on September 4: Tanio Hall, 30, also of Robinsonville, is charged with murder and conspiracy, while Tavion Crutchfield, 23, of Louisiana, was charged with accessory after the fact and conspiracy.

The Tunica County Sheriff's Office executed search warrants on two residences and a vehicle at the Kirby Estates Apartments during the investigation. Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at 2669 Kirby Road at approximately 7:52 p.m. on Sept. 2. When authorities arrived, they found McCray suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene by Tunica County Coroner Glen Grant.

During the Sept. 4 search, Hall and Crutchfield were taken into custody on unrelated outstanding warrants. Hall was wanted in Texas on weapons charges and failure to appear in court, while Crutchfield was charged in Louisiana with false imprisonment and assault on a partner.

The investigation into McCray's murder is ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Tunica County Sheriff's Office or CrimeStoppers. Rewards of up to $1,000 are available for information leading to an arrest.
