Delta and Endeavor planes collide on the tarmac at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a Delta Airbus A350 and a Bombardier CRJ900 Endeavor collided on the tarmac of Atlanta Airport on Tuesday morning.

The FAA said in a statement to Fox News Digital: “While Delta Air Lines Flight 295 was taxiing for departure at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, its wingtip struck the tail of Endeavor Air Flight 5526.”

“Delta's Airbus A350 was en route to Tokyo. Endeavor's Bombardier CRJ900 was en route to Lafayette, Louisiana,” the agency added. “The FAA will investigate the incident, which occurred at approximately 10:10 a.m. local time on Tuesday, September 10, at the intersection of two runways.”

Images posted on social media show severe damage to the tail of one of the planes, with its vertical stabilizer apparently severed from the aircraft.

“This was really awful. We were taxiing to our flight from Atlanta to Louisiana and another plane appeared to have grazed our tail,” WFTS meteorologist Jason Adams posted on X. “Very annoying, metallic scraping noises and then loud bangs. We are fine. No fire or smoke.”

Delta said in its own statement that “the wing of an Airbus A350, taxiing from Atlanta to Tokyo-Haneda as DL295, struck the tail of an Endeavor Air CRJ-900, DL5526 to LaFayette, Louisiana, on an adjacent taxiway, causing damage to the tail of the regional jet and the wing of the A350.”

“No injuries have been reported to date,” the airline said. “DL295 carried 221 passengers and DL5526 carried 56 passengers. No further operational adjustments are expected at this time.”

Delta later issued a second statement saying it had “worked with each customer … to accommodate them on a replacement aircraft scheduled to depart Tuesday afternoon. We apologize to our customers for this experience.”
