Ethereum mech shooter “MetalCore” starts open beta on the Epic Games Store

Mech shooter Metal core is set to enter open beta on the Epic Games Store on September 12 with its first in-game season of content, “MetalPunk Rhapsody.” This milestone will upgrade the Ethereum-based game, which is built on the Immutable zkEVM layer-2 scaling network, to Unreal Engine 5 and add a handful of new features.

The shooter who has a Titanfall meets Destiny Vibe, which we first previewed last year, has spent the last six months in various closed beta phases. Studio369the developer behind the game, is now opening its doors so that everyone can test the game.

In addition to the launch of the open beta version ether The shooter has been updated to Unreal Engine 5, the latest version of a powerful game engine that is widely used across the industry, including by some of the biggest AAA studios. MetalCore, which previously ran on Unreal Engine 4, will reportedly run smoother thanks to the jump to the latest version.

MetalPunk Rhapsody will introduce the game's new season format, with each one expected to last around four weeks. In return, players will be granted seasonal rewards, and those who rise through the ranks will receive limited-time prizes.

In an attempt MetalCore's History To bring the gameplay experience to the forefront, each season will focus on a different faction in the game's universe. The first season will put the MetalPunk faction in the spotlight through themed content, skins, and storylines.

As for new in-game features, players can try out new Player vs. Environment (PvE) raids, where up to 10 players from the same faction join forces to defeat a deadly alien species and secure resources. This new game mode aims to test players' teamwork within their factions.

Additionally, vehicles and mechs benefit from new rarity and power variables, while the game's mission system has also received what the team describes as a “significant update.” Introductory missions have been improved for first-time players, and there's new content for those who have already played MetalCore.

The step to open beta will take place after MetalCore’s native token MCG launched in June alongside a previous closed beta test. Players needed an Epic Games Store key or had to purchase one of five Founders Pack levels to participate in the closed beta. But for the open beta, which begins September 12, anyone can download the game and get started.
