Edgewater Mayor Diezel DePew is 19 years old.

Eyewitness News reached out to Edgewater City Hall for answers and received the following statement from city spokeswoman Jill Danigel:

“The City of Edgewater has been made aware of a video of Mayor Diezel Depew circulating on social media. The Mayor is an elected official and not an employee of the City. The City has no information that Mayor Depew has acted inappropriately or violated any laws in his official capacity as Mayor. Any further inquiries should be directed to Mayor Depew.”

Eyewitness News wants to clarify that DePew has not been charged with a crime, nor can we say with certainty that DePew did anything illegal.

But a person who took videos of him gave us permission to use them on TV and online, claiming he was at the bar, drinking alcohol as a minor and behaving inappropriately.

DePew made history in November 2022 when he was elected mayor of Edgewater at just 17 years old.
