James Earl Jones' death sparks tributes from Mark Hamill and others

Reactions to the death of James Earl Jones continued to pour in on Tuesday from Hollywood and longtime fans across the country. Jones died Monday at the age of 93, “surrounded by his loved ones,” a spokesman said. The cause of death has not yet been announced.

Many of Jones' colleagues in the entertainment industry expressed their condolences on social media. George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars franchise, called Jones “a wonderful human being,” and co-star Mark Hamill shared a brief but moving tribute to Jones.

Shortly after learning of Jones' death, Hamill posted on social media, “#RIP Dad 💔,” a reference to Hamill and Jones' famous relationship as father and son in a galaxy far, far away. Hamill later spoke more extensively about Jones in a subsequent post on Instagram.
