Texas Rangers come away empty-handed in World Series revenge

The Texas Rangers scored zero runs while the Arizona Diamondbacks scored six runs.

Unlike the Rangers, the Diamondbacks finally got over their October hangover, despite being 41-43 through June. While Texas struggled to get going all year, Arizona emerged as one of baseball's strongest teams in the second half of the season and would make the NL playoffs as a wild card contender if the season ended today.

Tonight, the Rangers had a chance to repeat their Game 5 victory from ten months ago, but they lost to Zac Gallen while Nathan Eovaldi was struggling to find his own postseason form. In this case, it was the home run that hurt Eovaldi, as he allowed three Diamondbacks home runs. The Rangers, meanwhile, had just three total hits.

At least we will always have Josh Sborz's glove spike on the turf at Chase Field.

Since this is a two-game series, the Rangers' winning streak ends at four, but they can still leave the desert tomorrow with a tie in the series.

Player of the match: Wyatt Langford had two of the Rangers' three hits, stole a couple of bases and made an excellent play to take extra bases in left field. No one else for Texas did much.

Next: The Rangers and Diamondbacks close out this short set, with LHP Cody Bradford looking to continue his streak of solid starts for Texas against RHP Merrill Kelly for Arizona.

First pitch Wednesday afternoon from Chase Field is scheduled for 2:40 p.m. CT and you can watch it on BS Southwest.
