TikTok influencer Caleb Graves dies after collapsing at the finish line of the Disneyland Half Marathon – and leaves behind a harrowing video before his death

A popular TikToker died moments after completing the Halloween Half Marathon at Disneyland – less than 24 hours after saying he was “slightly anxious” about the event.

Bobby Graves – known on social media by his middle name “Caleb” – held his chest as he crossed the finish line of the race at the California amusement park around 7 a.m. on Sunday, Anaheim police told People.

Graves, 35, collapsed and went into cardiac arrest, Anaheim Police Sergeant Matt Sutter said.

“Firefighters and rescue workers were on the scene immediately,” Sutter said, noting that “rescue workers couldn’t have been on the scene any faster” to treat the social media star.

Emergency responders then performed “life-saving measures” on Graves, an experienced and avid long-distance runner, before taking him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Sutter told People that the social media influencer had no known medical conditions before his death.

The coroner is still investigating the cause of his cardiac arrest.

Graves reportedly finished the 13.1-mile race in under two hours.

“The race started at 5 a.m. I don't know which wave he was in, but he crossed the finish line at about 7 a.m.,” Sutter said, adding that Graves had “really a good time.”

The race took place early in the morning as Southern California battled triple-digit heat waves, with Anaheim reaching highs of 106 degrees Fahrenheit (41.5 degrees Celsius) midday on Sunday.

The day before his death, Graves announced that he had “passed out” from heat exhaustion while returning home from walking his dog.

“The Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon is tomorrow and I'm a little worried now,” Graves said in a video titled “This heat is no joke.”

The social media influencer said he went outside for “about 20 minutes” around 2 p.m. on Saturday and collapsed “about 10 minutes” after returning.

“I grew up in Texas and know what heat is like, but UV exposure in Southern California heat is a beast all its own,” Graves explained.

“I really hope I can survive the race tomorrow morning.”

Heat exhaustion occurs when a person's body temperature rises between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius and they are unable to cool down due to ambient heat or a pre-existing health condition. The average core body temperature is about 37 degrees.

Symptoms of heat exhaustion include dizziness, confusion and nausea, which can usually be treated by drinking water and resting in a cool place.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, untreated heat exhaustion can lead to heat stroke, which is life-threatening.

Heat stroke occurs when a person's temperature rises to 41 °C (41 °F) or more within 10 to 15 minutes and the body cannot control its core temperature.

Following Graves' sudden death, his friends and family posted condolences on Facebook.

“It is with great sadness, on behalf of the Graves family, that I announce the passing of Caleb Graves this morning. He will certainly be missed by both his loved ones and his family,” wrote the TikToker's friend, Zane Drury.

“My family asks that you please give the Graves family the space and opportunity they need to make the necessary preparations for such an incredible loss and join us in prayer for a peace that passes all understanding.”

Disneyland Resort spokeswoman Jessica Good told KTLA they were “deeply saddened by this tragic loss and our condolences go out to Caleb's family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

The Post has reached out to Disneyland and the Anaheim Police Department for comment.

According to KTLA, Graves has completed the Disney World full marathon and half marathon in 2023 and this year.
