Flood warning for St. Johns and Duval Coast extended through Wednesday morning as rain increases in the area

JACKSONVILLE, Florida. – While we are still following a front that will remain over the region for most of this week, it is clear that Francine will pull moisture north and dry us out a bit towards the weekend.

Until then, we expect rain in the next few days due to the stuck front and therefore further flooding is to be expected.

In areas like San Marco, roads are closed due to flooding, and with more rain approaching, it may take some time for the waters to recede.

Jacksonville has experienced tremendous rainfall over the past few weeks, leaving the ground incredibly wet. Now, when more rain falls, it has nowhere to go, causing flooding in low-lying areas.

In many parts of our region, sewage systems are overloaded, causing flooding to occur more frequently.

Rain is expected again on Tuesday afternoon.

A flood warning has been issued for Flagler and St. Johns counties and coastal areas until Wednesday morning.
