It was a lucky night for a Mega Millions player in Texas who purchased a winning ticket worth $800 million.

According to a lottery press release, a single ticket sold in Texas matched all six numbers in Tuesday night's drawing. The prize was worth an estimated $800 million, with a cash value of $404.2 million, the seventh-highest in Mega Millions history.

The winning numbers from Tuesday’s draw were 1, 2, 16, 24 And 66. The golden Megaball was 6, and the Megaplier was 4X.

Ahead of the next drawing on Friday, the jackpot is now estimated at $20 million, with a cash value of $10.1 million.

Where was the Mega Millions jackpot won?

A winning ticket for Tuesday night's $800 million Mega Millions jackpot was sold in Texas. According to a press release, the winning ticket was sold at Murphy USA 8848 in Sugar Land, Texas.

Tuesday's drawing marks the 15th time the Mega Millions jackpot has been won in Texas since the state began playing the game in December 2003. It is also the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won in September and the third prize won this year.

In addition to the jackpot winner, there was a Match 5 winner of $1 million in California, Florida, New York and Washington. There were no Match 5 + Power Play winners of $34 million.

The next drawing will take place on Friday, September 13th, at 11pm.

Where can I buy Mega Millions tickets?

You can play Mega Millions in 47 locations: 45 states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. To find locations, search the Mega Millions website megamillions.com.

In Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana, you can purchase Mega Millions tickets at gas stations, convenience stores and supermarkets until 10:45 p.m. on drawing night.

Kentucky residents can also purchase tickets online at kylottery.com.

In Ohio, residents can use a lottery card available at Kroger, Buehler's Fresh Foods and Giant Eagle stores to allow Ohio consumers to enter sweepstakes using their phone and receive electronic notification and payment if they win.

How to play Mega Millions

Mega Millions tickets cost $2 per play.

There are a total of nine ways to win a prize, from the jackpot down to $2.

Players can choose six numbers from two separate number pools: five different numbers from the white balls numbered 1-70 and one number from the gold balls numbered 1-25.

Five white balls + one golden ball = jackpot.
Five white balls = $1 million.
Four white balls + one gold ball = $10,000.
Four white balls = $500.
Three white balls + one gold ball = $200.
Three white balls = $10.
Two white balls + one gold ball = $10.
One white ball + one gold ball = $4.
One golden ball = $2.

You can either choose your lucky numbers yourself or choose Easy Pick or Quick Pick and have the numbers drawn automatically. If you can't decide, the Mega Millions website offers a random number generator.

What is the Megaplier?

Most states offer the Megaplier feature, which increases non-jackpot winnings by two, three, four and five times.
