Coronado Crime Report: Assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated robbery, gang affiliation

The following information comes from the Coronado Police Department and has been summarized for publication. The report covers the period August 31 to September 6.

Arrests:

Driving without a license or insurance
August 31: A 33-year-old man was arrested on misdemeanor charges.

Attack with (and swinging) a deadly weapon
September 1: A 64-year-old man was arrested for carrying a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon.

Drunkenness in public
September 2: A 21-year-old woman was arrested on a misdemeanor charge. It was 10 days after her 21st birthday.

Driving without a license
September 4: A 25-year-old man was arrested on misdemeanor charges.

Arrest warrant outside jurisdiction
September 4: A 24-year-old man was arrested on a warrant from a foreign jurisdiction in connection with allegations of car theft.

Aggravated robbery, gang membership
September 5: A 19-year-old man was arrested for aggravated robbery and membership in a street gang, the latter of which is referred to as a “wobbler” because it can be punished as a major or minor crime.

Arrest warrant outside jurisdiction
September 5: A 28-year-old man was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant from a foreign jurisdiction. It is unclear what charges he faces. The man pleaded guilty in 2016 to resisting arrest and being under the influence of methamphetamine, which sparked protests on the San Diego State University campus at the time.
