Local man arrested after allegedly selling a brick of fentanyl to an informant in Reynoldsville

REYNOLDSVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Police arrested a local man who reportedly sold a piece of fentanyl to an informant in Reynoldsville County.

According to court documents, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office filed the following charges against the 32-year-old Roderick Joe Gregory Jr.of DuBois, in the office of District Judge David B. Inzana on Monday, September 9:

  • Criminal use of a communication facility, offence 3
  • Manufacturing, supplying or possessing with intent to manufacture or supply, serious crime
  • Intentional possession of controlled substances by unregistered person, misdemeanor

According to a criminal complaint, the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department, in cooperation with the Jefferson County Drug Task Force (JCDTF), received information regarding the purchase of a controlled substance in the area of 220 Ohio Street in Reynoldsville, Jefferson County.

According to the complaint, on September 5, an undercover agent with the Jefferson County Drug Task Force was in contact with a confidential informant who stated he could assist in purchasing stamp bags of fentanyl/xylazine from Roderick Gregory Jr..

Multiple communications in the form of text messages and phone calls were made to Gregory to facilitate the delivery of a pad (50 stamp bags) of fentanyl/xylazine to the CI. These communications included messages and calls stating the meeting location and price ($150.00) for a “pad” as well as the stamp bags to be purchased, the complaint states.

The CI and UC departed toward Reynoldsville while several more conversations with Gregory took place at approximately 1:48 p.m. The UC and CI arrived at the rear of 220 Ohio Street, which is accessed via Power Street. Gregory and a known female were found standing next to two vehicles. The UC parked directly in front of Gregory and the CI exited the UC's vehicle after being given $150.00 in official, pre-recorded JCDTF funds, the complaint continues.

The CI approached Gregory and they spoke briefly before an exchange of words was observed. The CI then got back into the UC's vehicle and placed a “block” of blue wax stamp bags secured with black rubber bands in the UC's center console. The UC and CI then left the area and took possession of the “block” stamp bag, according to the complaint.

The “brick” was later found to contain 10 bags marked “SUPER SPEED” and 40 bags marked “BLUE PLANET.” The “brick” containing the stamp bags was taken back to the JCDTF office where they were photographed and presented as evidence. The UC was later able to 100% identify Gregory using his PA driver's license photo, the complaint states.

Gregory was arraigned before Judge Inzana on Monday, September 9, at 2:50 p.m.

Since he was unable to raise the $5,000.00 bail, he was placed in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 24 at 9:30 a.m., presided over by Judge Inzana.
