Investigators say Zermeno was driving north on 39th Avenue when a vehicle traveling west on Monte Vista turned left and collided with her car. The impact caused Zermeno's car to spin and strike another vehicle before rolling over several times.

Zermeno and a small child were taken to hospital in critical condition, where their condition was stabilized. Zermeno died 15 days later.

According to police, the child's injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

A woman driving the vehicle that turned left from Monte Vista was also taken to a hospital for treatment, while the man driving the third vehicle was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation.
