State police arrest driver accused of driving 110 mph on I-84 in Willington – NBC Connecticut

State police have arrested a man accused of driving 110 miles per hour on Interstate 84 in Willington while attempting to elude a police officer.

State police said a Troop C officer in Tolland was conducting a speed check on the highway and observed a GMC SUV speeding on I-84 West past Exit 73 in Union around 3:18 p.m. Tuesday.

The officer deployed a laser and found that the driver was driving 94 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone.

When the trooper caught up to the GMC and tried to stop it, the driver accelerated to 110 mph, state police said.

The officer broke off the pursuit and the GMC continued west on I-84, where several more officers were stationed in the area of ​​Exit 69.

According to state police, officers worked together, locked the vehicle and stopped the driver.

The driver, a 31-year-old man from New York, was arrested and charged with reckless driving and failure to obey a police signal.

He was released on $1,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Rockville Superior Court on September 24.
