Plane crash in Schaumburg leads to road closures near regional airport – NBC Chicago

Roads in Schaumburg were closed as rescue crews arrived at the scene of a plane crash, the village said in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

At 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, officers arrived at the scene where a small plane was stuck in a ditch near Schaumburg Regional Airport, Schaumburg police said.

There were two people on board the plane who were being examined by medical personnel, police added.

According to the municipality, the intersection of Irving Park Road and Mitchell Boulevard was closed due to the accident.

“Emergency services are on site,” the post said. “Please take an alternate route to avoid heavy traffic.”

Photos and videos from the scene of the accident showed a small plane in the bushes on the side of a highway.

Authorities say the plane is in the Roselle area of ​​jurisdiction. Roselle authorities and the Illinois State Police are investigating, police said.

According to the Town of Schaumburg, Schaumburg Regional Airport is a general use general aviation airport located at 905 W. Irving Park Rd. The airport houses about 90 aircraft and handles about 45,000 flights annually, the township said.
