16-year-old motorcyclist dies after accident with car in Fresno, police say

A teenage motorcyclist was killed in an accident in downtown Fresno on Tuesday.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The teenager who died in a motorcycle crash in downtown Fresno has been identified as 16-year-old Austin Ly.

The Clovis Unified School District confirmed to Action News that Ly was a student at Clovis East High School.

It happened on Tuesday shortly after 4 p.m. on Fowler Street at Tulare Avenue when the driver of a car turned onto Fowler Street.

According to officials, Ly was riding a motorcycle when he ran a red light, crashed into the car and was thrown from his motorcycle.

He was taken to the hospital where he died.

According to police, the driver of the car is cooperating with the investigation.

The district has provided additional resources on campus.
