Infant among three dead in double murder and suicide; police identify suspect

An investigation is underway after police stumbled upon a shocking crime scene while investigating a shooting at a home in the 2900 block of East 12th Avenue on the city's east side, near the airport.

Police confirmed to ABC 6 News they are investigating a murder-suicide involving three victims. They told us a man who lived in the home shot his partner, her baby and then himself.

The man was later identified by police as 22-year-old Jaden Robinson.

According to court documents, Robinson has been free on bail since May 2023 while facing three weapons offenses and one count of drug possession from an incident in 2022. His next court date is scheduled for September 19 of this year.

Officers were called to the scene of the murder shortly after 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday after a caller reported that he believed a man had shot his girlfriend in his home.

This comes after we have seen a recent rise in domestic violence in the city.

“It's alarming, the number of suicides by murder we've had in Columbus over the last few weeks is alarming,” said Columbus Police Sergeant Joe Albert. “I was going to say it was 4 or 5 in a month – I think we're on the 18th domestic violence-related murder case…”

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Columbus Police Department Homicide Unit at (614) 645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at (614) 461-TIPS (8477).
