Danity Kane singer Dawn Richard sues Sean “Diddy” Combs for sexual assault | Sean “Diddy” Combs

A day after a judge sentenced Sean “Diddy” Combs to pay $100 million in a default judgment in a sexual assault case, Dawn Richard, singer of the former girl group Danity Kane, sued the rapper and music mogul for sexual assault and inhumane treatment.

Richard, who was formerly signed to Combs' label Bad Boy Records, also claims that she witnessed Combs physically and sexually abusing his ex-girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura on several occasions.

Richard, who joined Danity Kane in 2005 through Combs' reality show Making the Band, claims in court documents obtained by Page Six that Combs verbally abused her, calling the contestants “fat,” “ugly,” “sluts” and “bitches” and forced them to work 48 hours straight. As a result of the overwork, the 41-year-old singer says she lost a significant amount of weight, became dehydrated and developed rashes.

Richard further claims that between 2009 and 2011, when she joined Combs in the group Diddy – Dirty Money, Combs sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions by touching her breasts and buttocks while she was undressing in a dressing room.

“Mr. Combs frequently slapped Ms. Richard on her bare bottom and often made comments about her body. He noted that although she was 'too skinny,' she had a 'butt,'” the lawsuit states.

The singer also confirms that she has witnessed many instances of Combs abusing other women. In 2009, she allegedly saw Combs throw Ventura against a wall, choke her and drag her up a flight of stairs in his Los Angeles home. Richard also claims that she saw Combs throw a “boiling hot” pan of eggs at the Me & U singer, punch her in the face and attempt to strangle her.

The rapper settled Ventura's own $100 million lawsuit, in which she accused him of ongoing abuse, just one day after she filed the suit last November. The lawsuit set off a wave of litigation for the father of seven, including multiple claims of rape, sexual assault, other instances of physical violence and distribution of “revenge porn.” In March, federal agents raided Combs' properties in Los Angeles and Miami as part of a sex trafficking investigation.

Combs initially denied all allegations and promised to “fight” to clear his name. But in May, CNN released a video of Combs repeatedly punching and kicking Ventura in a hotel in 2016. Combs then released a video apology in which he said he was “sincerely sorry” and that his actions were “inexcusable.”

“I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted when I did it. I still am now,” he said.

In her lawsuit, Richard is seeking damages for mental anguish, distress and emotional distress, as well as criminal fines and money for her legal fees.
