Lynnwood High School shows a gun in the car on the way to campus

A Lynnwood High School student was arrested and taken into custody Wednesday morning shortly after he allegedly pulled out a gun on his way to school.

Officers were called to the area around 7:30 a.m. for a report of a road rage incident involving a firearm on North Road. The victim reported seeing a 16-year-old girl drive into the parking lot of Lynnwood High School. Officers responded and arrested her.

“The reporting party stated that a suspect female pulled out a firearm while driving on North Road and the victim reported seeing the suspect female drive into the parking lot of Lynnwood High School,” SCSO spokeswoman Renee Cooper told KIRO Newsradio.

A “modified” lockdown was imposed on campus while the incident was investigated.

While officers were searching the high school student's car, they found what appeared to be parts of an assault rifle on the ground. The girl was arrested and taken to the Denney Juvenile Justice Center.

“At this time, the suspect's vehicle and backpack have been seized as evidence and will be searched pending approval of a search warrant,” said Courtney O'Keefe, SCSO communications director. “The student is currently in custody and there is no further threat to students and staff.”
