Scottish Fire and Rescue Service recruits emergency call operators

The role of the fire control center includes handling emergency calls, coordinating resources and ensuring safe and effective management of incidents.

As part of the recruitment of new call center employees, the service is holding two open days to give potential candidates a first-hand insight into how the call center works.

The events will take place on Saturday 14th September and Sunday 15th September from 10am-3pm at its control room in Johnstone, Renfrewshire.

Station Manager Nicola Morrow, based in Johnstone, said: “Our open day is designed to provide a first-hand insight into the important role our fire control teams play in our emergency response.

“Our fire chiefs play an important role in our communities by responding to a variety of emergencies, from house fires to water and animal rescues.

“We are looking for people with strong communication skills and problem-solving skills, especially in high-pressure situations.

“It is an extremely rewarding job where you work in a close-knit team and play a key role in keeping people safe in times of need.”
