Taylor Swift swaps checkered corset for glittery UFO dress at the 2024 VMAs

Taylor Swift knows cosmic love – and cosmic fashion.

After walking the red carpet of the 2024 VMAs in a checkered, punky Dior dress, the pop star switched to a second, out-of-this-world look: a set with jewels silver mini dress decorated with UFO design.

The intricate design features leather buckles on the straps and what looks like two men standing beneath the skyship – reminiscent of their “Down Bad” lyrics and spaceships. Pictures from the Eras Tour.

Swift, 34, paired the asymmetrical style with a Rainbow K diamond earring and the same Stuart Weitzman buckled thigh-high boots ($1,232) she wore previously — fueling fan theories that her “Reputation (Taylor's Version)” announcement could be imminent.

“We're getting REPUTATION TAYLOR'S VERSION,” one X user (formerly of Twitter) guessed alongside space-style snaps, while a second added, “AND THE CLOWN CHAIR CONTINUES” along with “#Reputation.”

The “Midnights” singer changed her outfit before dancing and singing along to Katy Perry's performance and giving the newly crowned winner of the Video Vanguard competition a standing ovation.

Swift leads this year's VMA nominations with 12 total – including nods for most iconic performance (for her 2009 rendition of “You Belong With Me”) and female artist of the year.

She has already taken home a Moon Man statuette as she and Post Malone won Song of the Summer for their song “Fortnight”.

While the star reliably delivers on the fashion front at the VMAs, she is rarely seen slipping into a second look; last year, she stayed true to her edgy black Atelier Versace gown all night long, while in 2022, she announced “Midnights” in a dazzling, crystal-encrusted design by Oscar de la Renta.

There is still a long way to go midnight — and the end of this year's ceremony — it remains to be seen whether there will be any major announcements this time.
