First Alert Weather: More tornadoes confirmed on Monday, “severe clear” weather in sight

ROCHESTER, NY — Monday's wild weather brought not only heavy rains and flash flooding, but also several funnel clouds in the Rochester area of Irondequoit (that did not reach the ground) and two confirmed tornadoes near Pembroke and Grand Island.

This brings the total number of tornadoes in New York State this summer to 31. However, we won't see anything like that in the foreseeable future. A blocking pattern aloft and a huge area of high pressure at the surface all but guarantee plenty of sunshine and dry weather, not just through the weekend, but into next week as well.

We'll have cool and pleasant nights around 10 degrees, with afternoon highs rising from over 25 degrees on Wednesday to below 27 degrees on Thursday and Friday and into the weekend. The only weather phenomenon we'll be watching is Tropical Storm Francine, which will bring heavy rains to the Gulf Coast states, but could potentially bring us more clouds and maybe a little rain, but not until mid to late next week.

So Mother Nature will make sure that the areas affected by torrential rains dry up!
