Central Asia: China promotes “universal security” at anti-terrorism and anti-crime forum

China's Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong met with his counterparts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on Tuesday for the opening conference of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum in Lianyungang in the eastern province of Jiangsu.

The Public Security and Internal Affairs Forum aims to “create a sense of security community and deepen strategic mutual trust and cooperation,” Wang said.

“China is willing to enhance its counter-terrorism and cross-border crime capabilities and build an efficient and pragmatic cooperation platform with Central Asian countries to realize the vision of universal security,” Wang said.

The meeting took place one year after the launch of the China-Central Asia Summitwhich expanded Beijing's cooperation with its neighbors beyond trade and investment to include security and stability.
