Hanover schools on viral TikTok hit list

HANOVER, Va. (WWBT) – More officers were deployed to Hanover Schools on Thursday after the department said it was featured on a viral “hit list” on TikTok.

In a social media post, the Hanover County Sheriff's Office said it takes the threats very seriously and continues to monitor the situation.

MEPs say it appears to be part of a national and global problem.

It is unclear what specific threats were made against Hanover.

This happened just one day after a horror scenario at River City Middle School.

A bus driver reported seeing a student with a gun. However, after hours of searching, police were unable to find any students.

Amid increasing threats, parents are raising concerns about the state's new cell phone bans.

In many school districts, students' phones are turned off and locked away during the day.

Parents fear that they will not be able to reach their children in an emergency.

The Virginia Department of Education says parents can review the proposed policy until Sunday, September 15.
