Rich Homie Quan's videos top the YouTube charts as fans celebrate his life

Fans are celebrating the music and legacy of Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan following his death. His 2013 hit “Type of Way” has returned to No. 65 on the US Top Songs chart with over 1.3 million views. Rich Homie Quan has also returned to No. 83 on the US Top Artists chart as listeners reflect on his influence on hip-hop. Known for his distinctive style and catchy tracks, the rapper's music continues to resonate, reminding fans of his influence on the genre.

The family of Rich Homie Quan, born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, has issued an official statement to The Source regarding his death:

On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Lamar family lost our beloved son, brother, father, and friend. Dequantes Devontay Lamar, known to the world as Rich Homie Quan, was a proud native of the great city of Atlanta, Georgia, and represented the A's as he and his music traveled the globe. Although he leaves us with an undeniable hole in our hearts, we take comfort in knowing that his music and triumphant spirit lives on.

Quan's legacy will forever be enshrined as the soundtrack of our lives. And for that, we are grateful.

The sudden death of Rich Homie Quan is still a shock to the hip-hop scene. During the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players celebration, Offset delivered a message to RHQ's family: “I wish you all a little prosperity and that you somehow overcome it.”

He added: “Shout out to Rich Homie Quan, this is an artist from the beginning that we all started in the same lab, in the same kitchen to make it happen. This is a tragic thing in hip hop. Rest in peace and bless your family.”

Rich Homie Quan, born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, is known among fans for his melodic trap flow and became famous for his catchy songs, including the number one hits “Type of Way” and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)”. Rich Homie Quan was also a member of the Rich Gang alongside Young Thug and Birdman and founded the Rich Gang: The Tour, Part 1.

In 2022, Rich Homie Quan announced a partnership with Venice Music, an innovative music and technology company founded by Troy Carter and Suzy Ryoo. Under his new label, Rich Homie Entertainment, which is managed by Venice Music, Rich Homie Quan wanted to release music independently.
