“Easy money” … Canelo Alvarez opens the door to a huge superfight against Conor McGregor in 2025 with the Irishman’s return

Just days before his big fight against Edgar Berlanga at the T-Mobile Arena, Canelo Alvarez has admitted that he would be open to a monumental boxing superfight against Conor McGregor.

Ahead of Canelo Alvarez's big fight on Mexican Independence Day weekend, the main talking point is that his event clashes directly with the monumental UFC 306 event at the Sphere.

Nevertheless, Canelo, Matchroom and the UFC are convinced that both disciplines can perform well alongside each other.

Canelo Alvarez is open to the big 2025 superfight against Conor McGregor

The headliner of the major event UFC 306 is arguably the biggest active star in the UFC, Sean O'Malley, who is convinced that the UFC event will far surpass Canelo's boxing competition.

One person who threw his name in the hat to headline the one-off event at the Sphere was Conor McGregor. After his fight against Michael Chandler was cancelled last June, both fighters called for it to be rebooked and take place at the Sphere.

However, UFC CEO Dana White decided against this option and recently announced that McGregor will not return to action until early 2025.

Canelo has also admitted that he would be willing to have a superfight against “The Notorious” because of the enormous amount of money it could bring in, as the two have discussed online in recent months.

“Yeah, why not (fight Conor McGregor next year), we'll show that boxing is better (than MMA). Easy money. (I'd knock him out) whenever I want. One round, two rounds, three rounds, whatever I want,” Canelo confidently told Manouk Akopyan.

The Mexican superstar seemed to have had a disagreement with Turki Alalshikh recently after Alalshikh criticized him for not taking difficult fights.

Fans are concerned about Conor McGregor's impending return after new videos circulate

Although White has confirmed that the 36-year-old will not return until 2025, McGregor has yet to comment on the UFC boss's comments as he is currently in New York for a meeting with brewers.

During his time there, the Irishman has apparently maintained a certain training schedule, posting a series of new sparring videos with the caption “First sparring after return, then it's back to normal,” suggesting he may have stepped up his training for an upcoming fight.

Nevertheless, more videos have surfaced of the former two-weight world champion pouring and handing out pints of his Forged Irish Stout to fans while dancing.

“He needs to stop. He does everything except fight,” commented one fan on X.

Another fan sarcastically commented: “He's definitely going to fight in January guys.”
