According to Downdetector, Microsoft services were unavailable for many customers early Thursday, with users reporting problems accessing a number of the tech giant's tools.

The reports relate to issues with several Microsoft products, including Xbox, Microsoft 365 (a set of business tools), Microsoft Teams, Outlook and Azure, the company's cloud computing service.

Shortly before 8 a.m. Eastern time on Thursday, reports of problems began to spike. According to Downdetector, more than 24,000 outages had been reported by Microsoft 365 users alone by 9 a.m. The company only reports incidents that have a high number of complaints compared to a normal day.

“Downdetector users are reporting potential issues with Microsoft services when connecting via AT&T Fiber in the Eastern US region,” reads a banner at the top of the website functionality tracker’s website.

Microsoft customers also drew attention to the outages on social media. On X, one person posted that the “outage this morning appears to be wreaking havoc.”

After initially posting a statement on X that it was “investigating an issue where users may be unable to access several Microsoft 365 services,” the company said services had been restored.

“An incident at a third-party Internet service provider that impacted access to our services for a portion of its customers has now been fully resolved,” a Microsoft spokesperson told CBS MoneyWatch.
