The race for the best smartphone continues as Samsung's next high-end flagship, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, has been leaked in a new render. Courtesy of On Leaks And Android Headlinethe device looks strikingly similar to a certain foldable device and it couldn't appear at a more conspicuous time: iPhone16 Pre-order week.

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra appears to resemble the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It uses the same flat edges and sharp corners that Samsung is slowly starting to adopt, and deviates from the rounded corners that phones like the Pixel 9 Pro and their own Galaxy Z Flip 6 Usage. The phone is compared to the iPhone online because of the flat sides, but the rounded corners give it more of a Samsung look than anything else.

According to the report, the S25 Ultra will be lighter than the S24 Ultra at 219 grams compared to 232 grams. This is even lighter than the newly introduced iPhone 16 Pro Max which weighs 227 grams. The phone could also be a bit smaller due to thinner bezels around the 6.9-inch AMOLED screen, but that will hardly be noticeable. We're talking a millimeter here and there.

Still, the S25 Ultra should be easier to handle than the S24 Ultra, which is always good news for such a large device.

The only color we have seen so far is black, but Samsung will likely ship the S25 Ultra in a variety of different shades, like the numerous Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Colors.

Android Headlines reports that the S25 Ultra will ship with improved specs as expected. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor will likely make its way into the device after being unveiled at the Snapdragon Summit in October. With the 5,000mAh battery, the phone could also have improved battery life, but it all depends on how well the 8 Gen 4 is optimized. In our Galaxy S24 Ultra reviewOur Commander in Chief Matt Swider noted that the phone offers impressive endurance, so it will be interesting to see if Samsung can take things to the next level.

The cameras may stay roughly the same, meaning you'll probably still get a 200MP main camera, a 10MP 3x telephoto lens, and a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto lens. The ultra-wide-angle camera will reportedly be upgraded from 10MP to 50MP so it can capture more detail and light than before, which is handy if you take a lot of landscape photos.

Other rumors we've heard include the S25 Ultra having loads of RAM like the S24 Ultra, 45W wired charging, and an S Pen for note-taking. One spec we'll be keeping an eye on is Qi2, the new wireless charging standard that puts magnets on the back of your Android phone to enable clip-on charging. Samsung hasn't announced when it will start rolling out the technology in its smartphones, but it could be included in the S25 series, as Apple has had MagSafe charging capabilities since the iPhone 12 four years ago.

Speaking of which, this leak obviously comes at an interesting time. Apple is preparing to open pre-orders for the iPhone 16 and – most importantly – the iPhone 16 Pro starting tomorrow, September 13. The S25 Ultra leak couldn't come at a better time to convince people to wait and see what Samsung is up to.

We'll be covering the S25 Ultra through to release day and beyond. We expect that to be sometime in mid-January after CES in Las Vegas. That means you won't be able to pick up the new Galaxy on Black Friday, but there will still be plenty of Samsung Galaxy deals.
