Three people charged in drug overdose death in Forest County

FOREST COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) – Three people were charged with first-degree manslaughter Wednesday in connection with an overdose death last year in Forest County.

Authorities said the death occurred on Sunday, April 2, 2023. At that time, the Forest County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reporting a possible drug overdose on Daisy Lane in Nashville Township in Forest County. Upon arrival, a 27-year-old man was found dead. The scene was turned over to the Forest County Drug Task Force and an investigation was launched.

After what authorities said was a thorough investigation that included multiple search warrants and subpoenas, more than 1,000 hours of video and phone review, forensic analysis of multiple electronic devices, multiple interviews and surveillance, authorities said the investigation was completed and submitted to the Forest County District Attorney's Office.

The Forest County District Attorney's Office filed criminal charges against 65-year-old Steven P. Tuckwab of Crandon, 33-year-old Dakota S. Tuckwab of Crandon and 40-year-old Sheena R. Tuckwab of Crandon, all for first-degree manslaughter.

In August 2023, a joint drug overdose response and investigation program was launched in Forest County, Wisconsin. The Forest County Drug Task Force began working with the Wisconsin National Guard Counter Drug Program, Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigations, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Sokaogon Chippewa Community Police Department. They began identifying drug overdose cases and drug overdose deaths for further investigation.

This case was the first selected by the Task Force.

According to online court records, Steven Tuckwab, Dakota Tuckwab and Sheena Tuckwab will not appear in court until December 10.
