15-year-old arrested after threatening violence against teachers and students at Echols County Schools

ECHOLS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – A student was arrested after false threats were made against students and teachers at Echols County Schools.

On Monday, September 9, Echols County School System officials reported that a student received a Snapchat message with a list of Echols County Schools students and staff who were targets of a possible shooting.

An investigation by the Echols County Sheriff's Office led officers to a 15-year-old student who confessed to making the false threat.

They were arrested and charged with false public alarm and false crime reporting.

Sheriff Courson says in a post that “we take these types of allegations seriously and this behavior will not be tolerated.”
