Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence on what could have gone differently on Sunday

After the Jacksonville Jaguars took a double-digit halftime lead against the Miami Dolphins, they were unable to score another point for the rest of the game. The Dolphins slowly but surely fought their way back and won the game with a last-second field goal from the Dolphins.

After analyzing the game against the Dolphins, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence took responsibility. He said there were several plays he would have liked to repeat.

“I think honestly there are a few plays I wish I had back from the game,” Lawrence said. “I think overall I did the right thing with the ball. I was accurate. There were some things I liked that we did as an offense, but there are probably two plays that stick out in my mind. Early in the game, it was something like a third-and-23 or something. I should have just checked it. I probably won't get the first try, but I took care of the ball and did the right thing.

“I tried to force one, to get one in early for Evan [TE Evan Engram] “That's one I want back. And then on second down on the last drive, we're down again. I just tried to rush my reads a little bit too much and should have just stuck to my rules and taken an easy completion and left it on third-and-manageable. I tried to get free and ran right into a play with the D-end. The sack is on me. I kind of ran right into the play they were making up front. So those are honestly the two main plays I want back that I could have done better with.”

Lawrence says there are other plays he would repeat if he could. His inability to complete an extra pass late in the game is a play he believes could have gone differently and perhaps changed the outcome of a close three-point game.

“There's a couple of other plays,” Lawrence said. “I could be a little more specific, do a couple of other things, but those are the ones that really stuck with me. That's actually more what I meant, which is, especially on that second attempt on the last drive, I felt like I definitely could have finished and kept us on third-and-manageable instead of putting us on third — and I don't know what it was, 11, 12, I forget what it was, but something like that.”

The Jaguars' meeting with the Browns will be the team's first home game, and Lawrence and the Jaguars' offense hope to get on track in the next few days to beat the Browns and avoid an 0-2 start to the season.
