Playboi Carti releases new song “All Red” and confuses some fans

On Friday (September 13), Playboi Carti released his new song “All Red,” after giving his followers just hours' notice. Released on his birthday, “All Red” has been a grail for fans since a snippet of it made the rounds online in 2023.

Upon first listening to the track, you hear Carti belting out boastful bars in a very deep voice over a hypnotic, energetic beat.

“Inverted cross tattooed my neck, shut them up,” he raps in the song produced by theF1LTHY and OjiVolta.The Bentley is outside, my mood tries to take a ride/I applied Vetements directly to her thighs, I put on the mask because I'm getting fried.”

However, his voice is so deep that many fans say he sounds like Future.

“That's not Carti, that damn Future,” wrote one fan. “Carti has gone from a gangster to a Future,” added another fan. “Carti accidentally uploaded a new Future song,” another person said.

It is true that the voice Carti chose for “All Red” is significantly deeper than the high notes heard on most of his previous albums, Lots of redHowever, he has also been heard experimenting with a deeper baritone on Travis Scott's “Fe!n” last year and on Ye and Ty Dolla $ign's “Carnival” earlier this year. Playboi Carti spoke about taking this new direction by using a deeper voice in his XXL Magazine cover story in 2022.

Playboi Carti announces I am music bunch

Ahead of the release of “All Red” on Friday, Playboi Carti also revealed some merchandise and digital pre-orders for his long-awaited I am music album. The project is set to be released later this year. While there is no release date yet, the album is available for pre-order for $9.99. Merch packs also include a special edition hoodie. No shipping date is given, but the website states, “Product will ship in six months at the latest.”

Hopefully this means fans can expect I am music at least within the next six months. Frankly, this could just be distressing news for Carti fans. He first announced I am music in December 2023, and he has been hinting at it ever since.
