Two of Mexico's biggest cities are getting more flights from the US – What you should know

Aeromexico is offering travelers in Denver, Las Vegas, Miami, New York and Orlando more nonstop flight options to Mexico this winter.

The SkyTeam alliance member will connect Guadalajara nonstop to Denver, Las Vegas, Miami and Orlando up to seven days a week starting December 19. Flights to Denver will continue until April 20, to Miami and Orlando until March 30 and to Las Vegas until January 12.

And from Monterrey, Aeromexico will offer up to daily flights to Denver, Las Vegas, Miami, New York JFK and Orlando starting December 19. Service to Denver will be available until April 20, to Miami and Orlando until March 30 and to Las Vegas and New York until January 20.

Monterrey is Mexico's second-largest metropolitan area after Mexico City and the capital of the northeastern state of Nuevo León. Guadalajara is the country's third-largest metropolitan area and the capital of the western state of Jalisco.

Aeromexico serves all five U.S. cities from its hub in Mexico City and said the new routes would “strengthen” its presence in the U.S.

Because Aeromexico is a close partner of Delta Air Lines, passengers on the new flights can earn either Delta SkyMiles or Aeromexico Rewards points.

Aeromexico faces competition on almost all of its new routes from American Airlines and Mexican low-cost carriers Viva Aerobus and Volaris, according to Cirium Diio's flight schedules. The only route without competition is Monterey-New York.

Guadalajara is one of the best foodie destinations in Mexico and was one of T+L readers' favorite cities in this beloved country in 2023. The iconic tequila brand Jose Cuervo operates an all-you-can-drink tequila train from the city to nearby Tequila.
