1 arrested after shooting 2 people and barricading in apartment unit | News

Two people were injured and a barricaded suspect was arrested following a shooting in the Surfside Beach area on Thursday, September 12, at around 9:40 p.m.

Horry County Police wrote in a Facebook post that the suspect was barricaded in a housing unit before being taken into custody at 11:10 p.m.

The HCPD announced at 9:40 p.m. that officers responded to a report of a shooting near South Reindeer Road in Horry County near the town of Surfside Beach.

SWAT, Special Operations and other HCPD units responded. Some residents were evacuated and others remained in their homes during the incident.

“We appreciate the patience of community members who remained in their homes, avoided the area, or complied with evacuations during this incident,” the HCPD wrote.

The South Carolina Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
